Lee and John

Personalized weddings are our favorite type here at Grassroots and that was just what Lee and John incorporated in their beautiful day. Lee’s mom has been collecting pewter vases and pitchers over the years as a unintentional hobby. So when Lee found the perfect silver dresses at Forever 21 (yeah that’s right!!!), the pewter vases became the perfect accompaniment to her deep plum flowers (photo’s of the pitcher arrangements are still to come).  This fun loving couple really were a blast to work with. The Dressing Room, a haven for brides and bridesmaids alike, held a trunk show at their St. Petersburg boutique at the end of March.

Meet Irene

For those of you planning a wedding or those of you in the wedding industry you know what it is like to search for well experienced and talent professionals. However when we stumble across someone that exceeds those expectations, it’s something rather satisfying… triumphant. Irene Papademetriou (yes she’s Greek) is one of those people. She is a professional makeup artist with a full range of styles.  With experience in television, print, and special events Irene brings allot to the table. Here are some shots I had of her work. Epiphany, Tarpon Springs FL

Today we joined over 25,000 people to celebrate another Epiphany here at the Tarpon Springs Bayou.  This year just like last we handed out over 300 roses to the locals and tourists that gathered around the water.  It was such a beautiful day to stroll around Craig park and meet the people of this great community.  For those of you who received a complimentary rose, we would love to hear some of you comments.  To read more about the traditional Epiphany celebration click here.

The Best Coffee in Town

Old Town Cafe Palm Harbor

Small towns like palm Harbor or Tarpon Springs are full of hidden gems just waiting to be found. Well…. consider this one found! The old town cafe has become Grassroot’s favorite spots for coffee, and lunch, and just hanging out.  The coffee (Baby’s Coffee from Key West) is so smooth you could drink it black (which is allot to say for someone who likes it a creamy brown color). They also have the tastiest sandwiches. Try the egg salad sandwich or their creative version of the BLT, The ABCLT. Some other things you can find there include gelato, wine, bear, smoothies and a great atmosphere. And the icing on the cake is that all of their cups, forks, straws, and plates are made from Eco friendly materials.  Here is my plee to all you small town locals… show your support, drink a cup of joe with Dan at The Old Town Cafe! You won’t be disappointed.

So Much to be Thankful for

This Thanksgiving the family met up in St. Augustine to celebrate at My brother and Sister-in laws new home. Mary Joy surpassed any expectations we could have had with her smorgasbord of delicious treats.  Michael and Mary Joy just got married last July (check out some of their wedding pics on “our work” page) and were eager to host their first Thanksgiving together. Their beautiful home was a peaceful retreat for the whole family. As was the quiet beach where we tried to bring back our childhood by flying a kite. Needless to say we were not successful after we snapped the main rod.

Their lush herb and vegetable garden added loads of freshness to our dishes. And most of our waste was composted to return nutrients back to the garden. Simple living, got to love how that works. After dinner we took a stroll downtown to see this ancient city all lit up. We even experience real snow at a downtown festival. Also, check out the snap shots of the Saturday market… the streets were filled with the local artists that make St. Augustine the laid back, easy-going city that it is.
